BAKO North Western Group is supporting the fight against breast cancer by partnering with bb’s bakers + baristas on the new “Mrs Pink Muffin” this October

bb’s bakers + baristas to donate 25p/ 25 cent from the sale of every Mrs Pink Muffin to charity’s breast cancer programmes and services

October 2016 : BAKO North Western Group is going pink with a purpose this October. The bakery wholesaler is partnering with bb’s bakers + baristas on their brand new Mrs Pink Muffin which is being sold nationwide in support of the Marie Keating Foundation. Bb’s bakers + baristas is donating 25p/25 cent from the sale of each new Mrs Pink muffin sold during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to the cancer charity founded by singer Ronan Keating and his family after his mother passed away from breast cancer. The brand new Mrs Pink Muffin means that you can have a generous helping of fabulous, fruity strawberry flavours all while helping the Marie Keating Foundation’s fight against breast cancer, a disease which around 60,000 women in the UK and 2,900 women in Ireland are diagnosed with each year. However, thanks to early detection and advances in treatment, more and more women are now surviving. There are now over 200,200 breast cancer survivors in the United Kingdom and around 28,000 breast cancer survivors in Ireland.

Speaking at the launch of the Mrs Pink Muffin, Ronan Keating, son of the late Marie Keating, said, “Almost all of us know someone who is affected by breast cancer whether it’s our mother, our sister, our daughter or a friend. Having a Mrs Pink Muffin is a great way to give yourself an occasional treat while also helping the Marie Keating Foundation in our fight against this disease. There are bb’s bakers + baristas stores all around the country so please drop by and join the fight against cancer this October.”

Also speaking at the launch was Andrew Moyes, CEO bb’s bakers + baristas, who said, “This October, all bb’s bakers + baristas cafés will be stepping out with the new Mrs Pink Muffin who, being health conscious, will be made using our delicious ‘skinny’ recipe. We are delighted to donate 25p/ 25cent from every Mrs Pink muffin sold, in our 55 shops across the UK and Ireland, in October to the Marie Keating Foundation to support their amazing breast cancer programmes and services. Like many of our team members, I was personally affected by breast cancer when my wife was diagnosed with the disease so I hope that the funds that we raise will help prevent this happening to another family.”

bb’s bakers + baristas stores will also be helping to promote messages about breast cancer awareness during the month of October. Each store will be providing customers with information from the Marie Keating Foundation on how to reduce their risk of breast cancer, which include:

  • Regularly check your breasts
  • Be a healthy weight
  • Get active
  • Don’t smoke
  • Limit alcohol
  • Visit your GP if you think there is something wrong
